Not every story is love at first site. This is the story of Elvire and her pursuit of the perfect drysuit. It is also the story of how when things don’t work out, it’s the service that makes the difference.
Every time I put on my gear, I look like a parent looking at her brand new baby…
Not every story is perfect from the beginning. I will try to make the story short.
In 2004 I bought my first DUI. It was a CF200 and it was custom made. I’m not sure what happened because the socks were too small. I made contact with DUI in the USA and DUI Germany and they made sure I got new, better at no charge. I walked around as a proud DUI owner.
I do many dives in the Oosterschelde in Holland. Sometimes we have to make a long walk before we finally get in the water and step on/over a lot of rocks and sharp oysters. There is always some adventure and danger to fall getting in and out the water!
Something wasn’t quite right with my CF200. I had to turn it inside out after 2 dives so that it could dry. That was not normal. So I talked about my problem to Dive Shop Aegir in Stein, (Netherlands) and they took immediately care of me. They sent my suit to BtS (DUI’s European Distributor) and I got the message that DUI would make me a brand new custom DUI under warranty.
Who could believe that?
But they spoke the truth!
In November 2009, I got a brand new TLS350 Explorer from DUI. I was very proud (and the socks were great this time)!
I’m always freezing but I can’t stay out of the water even at 0°c. I like to wear more thermal clothing under my Thinsulate 400. Because of this, the legs were awfully tight and it was hard to bend.
I went to the Boat Show in Germany in January 2010. I went over there and met Susan (DUI’s President & CEO). We had a nice talk! Susan thanked me for still being a DUI fan even after having issues.
When I got home I wrote an email to Susan. Susan wrote me back and promised me she would take care of my suit and that DUI would remake the pants of my brand new suit. I was very happy. Oren (DUI’s Export Manager) contacted me as well and I had to send the suit back to BtS in Germany. BtS would send it to DUI USA.
The first week of April 2010 I got my DUI back and it fits great! It fits exactly the way it should be fitting!! What a difference!
I am very grateful to DUI USA, to Susan and her staff, to BtS and to the people of Dive Shop Aegir in Stein.
THANKS A LOT! I AM REALLY PROUD THAT I AM A DOG NOW!! We shall meet again in Germany at BOAT 2011! I’ll bring you some Belgian chocolates!! That’s my promise!
