About the Event & Location
Your event ticket which is $5 (if purchased in advance) or $10 on site, entitles you to participate in all aspects of the demos, enjoy a barbecue lunch, and participate in the raffle. Tickets may be purchased in advance at your local participating dealer, or at www.dui-online.com. There is a small parking fee of $7 that must be paid to the facility. You can find more information about the area at http://cuyunacountry.net/index.cfm. The area has some of the finest diving in Minnesota with great visibility and lots of aquatic life swimming around the underwater forests. There is also plenty to do with the family as this area is a well known tourist destination with excellent shopping, other sport activities and plenty of places to stay.

All activities will take place at the Portsmouth Mine and will begin at 9am on Saturday and Sunday. When you reach the location, you will see our two large white tents. The tents will protect us from the weather so, come rain or shine, we’ll be diving!

Air fills are available nearby as there are several dive stores in the Brainerd. There will also be a mobile fill station at the lake that weekend. On site air fills will be $7. If you need to rent gear, please call the dive store ahead of time. We will not have tanks, regulators, masks, or weights for rent at the event.

We will be setup next to the Portsmouth Lake Campground. Camping is $11/night and we recommend making reservations by calling 218-546-5926, and there are many motels and hotels in Brainerd as well. Please call DUI if you are having trouble and we will try to help.

Schedule for the Day

Registration and Test Dives: 9am-5pm Saturday & 9am-4pm Sunday
Registration will begin at 9am on Saturday. All divers will need to show your certification card at the facility. You will also need to complete a liability release form and rental form and we will ask that a credit card or drivers license be held as a deposit. A parent or guardian who can sign the appropriate forms must accompany participants under 18. These forms are available from your local dealer or on-line so you can fill them out in advance if you like.

Test Dives will be conducted Saturday until 5pm and Sunday until 4pm. All equipment must be returned at that time. Divers must enter the water by 4pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday to ensure we have the equipment back in time.

Prior to the demo, each diver will be fitted with the appropriate drysuit and other equipment. Once you are dressed and ready to dive, you will check in with the divemaster in charge of the dive deck who will assign you an instructor or divemaster as a guide. As soon as there are 2-3 people ready to go in the water, an experienced drysuit diver or instructor will escort you on your dive. If you are a certified drysuit diver, you are welcome to dive on your own. You can do as many dives as you wish. With numerous suits there usually is little wait, though you may need to wait a short time if you would like to dive a specific type of drysuit.

All DUI equipment must be returned by 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.

Barbecue Lunch: 11am to 2pm
This is included in the event ticket price and is served to all participants from 11am –2pm. Please plan your dive schedule appropriately. Family members of participants can enjoy the barbecue lunch for only $5. Small children are free with a paid adult.

“How to” Seminars
Field Repair Seminar, Sunday 11am-12pm
DUI staff will demonstrate seal replacement, changing valves and overall tips on maintaining drysuits. Space is limited and pre-registration is recommended. To register contact DUI Customer Service directly at 800.325.8439 or CustomerService@DUI-Online.com.

Special Opportunities for DOGs
DOGs who bring a friend with them to test dive DUI products will receive a FREE DOG neoprene mask strap, and commemorative DUI Test Diver hat upon presenting their equipment and event ticket.

Door Prizes for All Participants
All divers who complete the demo will get a commemorative DUI TEST DIVER hat and have their names entered into a drawing for more prizes. DOGs can get a hat upon presentation of their DUI equipment.

Things to Bring
  • Basic scuba equipment including mask, snorkel, open heel fins, regulator with octopus and gauges, tank, weights, BCD, and cold water hood and gloves. We will have over 90 drysuits available so we should have plenty for all. We will have larger fins available in case your fins do not fit the drysuit boots. We also have DUI hoods, BCS systems and Weight & Trim systems available for demo. If you want to try the 30/30 drysuit, please bring your wetsuit boots as this suit uses ankle seals.
  • Diver certification card and credit card for deposit
  • Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and bring your own favorite snacks, drinks, etc.
  • Cameras are a great idea. We will be happy to take pictures of you and your friends.
