About the Event & Location

Your event ticket entitles you to participate in all aspects of the demos, enjoy a barbecue lunch, and participate in the raffle. The National Polytechnic College of Engineering and Oceaneering offers a unique opportunity for you to visit a one of a kind commercial diving training facility. The large diving tank will make it a great “test dive” site, and the viewing portholes will make it an enjoyable day for divers and non-divers alike. Bring the family! Tours of the facility including the recompression chamber will be available. For more information about the National Polytechnic College of Engineering and Oceaneering , visit www.natpoly.edu.

All activities will begin at 9am on Saturday and Sunday

Air fills are available on site and other rental equipment is available nearby.

You will be asked to show your certification card at the facility. You will also need to complete a liability release form and rental form and we will ask that a credit card or drivers license be held as a deposit. A parent or guardian who can sign the appropriate forms must accompany participants under 18.

Schedule of Activities

Demos
Demos will be conducted Saturday from 9am-5pm and Sunday from 9am – 4pm. Each demo will consist of a dive briefing, equipment sizing, and an opportunity to ask questions after the dive. As soon as there are 2-3 people ready to go in the water, an experienced drysuit diver or instructor will escort you on your dive. If you are a certified drysuit diver, you are welcome to dive on your own. You can do as many dives as you wish. With numerous suits there usually is little wait, though you may need to wait a short time for the specific type of drysuit you want.

Barbecue Lunch
This is included in the event ticket price and is served to all participants from 11am –2pm. Family members of participants can enjoy the barbecue lunch for only $5. Small children are free with a paid adult.

“How to” Seminars
Informative and fun “How to” seminars will be taught throughout the weekend. Topics for these 20 minute seminars will include but are not limited to Insulation Strategies, Proper Weighting, Why Women Get Colder, and When to Use Dry Gloves and/or Argon. Other seminars on the recovery of the Russian Nuclear Submarine, Kursk, will be held during the day. A schedule with more detailed information will be posted in the tent.

San Diego Oceans Foundation
All monies collected from the weekend are given to the San Diego Oceans Foundation and they will be present to answer questions about volunteer opportunities. SDOF will also be sponsoring a raffle so come prepared to support a great cause.

Demo Commercial Diving Helmets
National Polytechnic College of Engineering and Oceaneering will be offering demos of commercial diving helmets such as the Superlite 27. This is a great chance to see what it is like to be a commercial diver.

Special Opportunities for DOGs
DOGs who bring a friend with them to test dive DUI products will receive a FREE DOG commemorative pin.

Door Prizes for All Participants
All divers who complete the demo will get a commemorative DUI TEST DIVER hat and have their names entered into a drawing for more prizes. DOGs can get a hat upon presentation of their DUI equipment.

California Classic Divers
This group will be present to give you an opportunity to see historical diving equipment including the Mark V diving system in action. Enter to win one of two chances to dive in a Mark V diving system yourself.
