DUI salutes the Allegan County Sheriff Dive Team, Michigan.
We test dove two DUI CF200 drysuits back in 1998. At that time we were using vulcanized rubber drysuits and they were only lasting approximately 4 years and were in constant need of repair due to cuts, nicks, etc. The DUI CF200X, which is a crushed neoprene drysuit, was found to be more durable for our needs. We dive in many areas with underwater hazards and with large amounts of zebra mussels which are unbelievably sharp. The CF200X's stood up to these hazards. The first time we even had to repair a small leak was 6 years later. Our oldest DUI drysuit is still in service and is approximately 10 years old and still looks new. For the money we were spending, DUI drysuits are more cost effective for extended life and service, more durable and resistant to sharp objects, easier donning and doffing with the front entry system and easier to work with the RockBoot system.
Our team responds to calls for service involving any in-water emergency, all reported drowning situations, body recoveries, evidence recovery, ice rescues, swift water and educational needs. We currently utilize one 18’ Boston Whaler, one 17’ Carolina Skiff, a Hovercraft, and a 2003 Ford Excursion pulling a 17' equipment trailer.
