My name is Helen Tsopouropoulou and my husbands’, the one in the photo, is Nicholas Vasilatos. We live in Athens Greece and wanted to share news and photos from our latest project on Evia Island, Greece. All members of our team wear DUI drysuits (TLS350 Signature Series and TLS350 Explorer Series).
The purpose of the project was to conduct a series of dives to identify the wreck of a cargo passenger liner originally suspected to have sunk during the first or Second World War.
The wreck proved to be the French ‘Parana’ built in 1908 for account of SGTM and owned by them until her sinking in 1917 by a submarine (UC74) at Kafireas (Kavo Doro) strait. She was at that time requisitioned by the French Government and carrying troops and war material to Thessaloniki, Greece.
We found out the hard way, and after spending much money, that for the kind of diving we do, DUI TLS350 is the only way. The TLS gives excellent mobility, so an easy, relaxed dive is possible. Also handling the manifolds, in case of a failure, which you understand is rather crucial, is now a very easy and smooth drill.
TLS do not have the awful, floaty boots other suits have, so when ascending in blue water you can easily keep your horizontal position during stops without struggling to find yourself feet up! Proper position and a relaxed deco is again a most important issue. The bottom line is that we find the TLS to be a very comfortable, high-quality, well designed suit which makes all aspects of a dive from suiting up to deco easier and safer.
I wanted to note. Nicholas has ordered his next DUI TLS suit this March which came a little larger and longer than what should be. Anyway, your dealer in Europe, BTS, truly gave us a first class customer service by arranging for a new suit (not yet received) and in the meantime they let us have a demo suit – the very one Nicholas is wearing in the photos – free of charge in order to complete our expedition with the only obligation to return it once the replacement one arrives. This was really something to appreciate. As I said first class customer treatment.
Taking the opportunity, we launched a website where photos and other material is available. Feel free to visit www.wreckdiving.gr for more information.
Cheers,
