My DUI Love Story:
We first met in my local dive shop. She was just hanging around, waiting to be noticed, when in I walked. It was love at first sight. After a brief introduction and some tentative fumblings, I knew that I wanted her. We were made for each other.
Since then we have dived all over the UK, from the Isles of Scilly and the South coast of England to the North of Scotland, including Cape Wrath and Scapa Flow in Orkney. We have dived historic shipwrecks and enjoyed some of the best scenic dives Britain has to offer. We’ve huddled together on club boats and basked in the luxury of liveaboards. And when the weather was rough or we had no access to a boat we have even jumped into freshwater quarries or scrambled over rocks to dive from the shore.
Yes, we’ve had our moments – our ups and downs, so to speak. Yes, there have been injuries and harsh words and repair work needing to be done. After all, we have been together now for over four years and have done nearly 250 dives together, but I wouldn’t want to be without her. In fact, I think I am more in love with her now than when we first met.
I thought I would send you a photo of us together. Yes, that’s me and her on our dive club RIB, on a weekend trip to the North West coast of Scotland with some other members of our dive club. She is, of course, as you can see my DUI CF200SE drysuit.
